‘Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my kin (brother and sister and mother!)’ Matt 12 vs 50 NLT
I just love the way Jesus declares that His family is not a genetic one connected in human terms, but instead is joined and built around Father God. This is the wonderful truth that we can all be part of Jesus extended family and therefore can see ourselves as His kith and kin.
Kinship is a connection and affiliation with Jesus available through all He has accomplished for us; Jesus invites one and all to be part of His wider family, regardless of background, race, or anything.
As King’s fellowship emerges we are seeking to be faithful followers of Jesus. Our Celtic church roots teach us to see followers of Jesus as His and therefore our extended family. We intend to be a supportive parallel to all that is good with current local gatherings of believers, whilst having a greater emphasis on faithfully following Jesus all week in Kinship with Jesus.
As the ancient Scottish clans of old, we can focus on Kinship as being an expression of community, common bonds, sharing communion around the one true Lord and King, who is Jesus. We can walk together, work together and worship together. An extended family praying and serving in Jesus name where we are drawn into His presence as we gather to celebrate all that our King has invited us to be part of in Kinship.
A medical dictionary describes Kinship as being connected by family blood, marriage or adoption. In Kinship with Jesus we are saved/connected by His blood shed on the ‘Holy rood’ (holy cross); we are united in the marriage of Jesus and His church and we are adopted into God’s family.
We are drawn together by the living powerful presence of our King; all and anyone not in an existing church would be warmly welcomed to share Kinship with us around King Jesus, in the King’s fellowship.
Kinship with Jesus- is a wonderful invitation; you are welcome to join us as we respond!!
The blessing of the King of Kings be upon you.
